KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville is getting a new Chick-fil-A for the first time in almost five years.
The new location, at 2082 Town Center Boulevard, held a grand opening celebration on Wednesday, May 22 and opened on Thursday, May 23 to a long line of hopeful customers who had camped out overnight to get some free "chikin."
Operator David Jacobi awarded a free year supply of Chick-fil-A to the first 100 eligible adults who were in line on grand opening morning.
But the way it was done came as a change from the chain's signature 24-hour campout-- the line for the promotion at Northshore Town Center opened at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, only 12 hours before the store's opening.
A release from the Chick-fil-A franchise said if there are more than 100 people in line at that time, a raffle will be held to determine the 100 who will stay on site for the next 12 hours.
Prizes will be awarded around 6 a.m. on Thursday, May 24.
