Pay it Forward: Girl inspired to help the homeless

The little girl was worried about the area's homeless being cold this winter, and she did something to help them!

Nothing warms your body like a good coat, and nothing warms your heart like a good deed.

Madilynne Wright is an 8-year-old from Clinton with a big heart, and after a recent encounter with a homeless person, she was inspired to help.

"One day I was with my Nana and I saw a homeless person and he didn't have a jacket and it was cold outside," she said. "I thought he might have been really cold and I wanted to help all the homeless people and not just him."

So Madilynn got to work! She and her mom posted the need for blankets and coats on Facebook, and people responded in a big way!

Once they collected the donations, they delivered the abundance of warm clothes to Knox Area Rescue Ministries.

"We got on the sidewalk and they all came over there and started getting the blankets and coats and started thanking me," she said. "They had smiles on their face!"

Madilynn fulfilled her own Christmas wish by making sure others were taken care of first.

"We get Christmas presents and they don't and that was like their Christmas present from me," she said.

Madilynn even received a special heroes award from her classmates for her Christmas generosity.
