Young-Williams volunteers help take care of animals

Lauren Quinn has volunteered at Young-Williams Animal Center for about four months.

As part of National Volunteer Week, Young-Williams Animal Center is putting a spotlight on their volunteers who come in everyday rain or shine.

One of those volunteers is Lauren Quinn. She moved to Knoxville last year, and has volunteered at Young-Williams for about four months.

"You can't be sad when you're around cute dogs and animals all day long," Quinn said. "It's just a great way to give back and make a difference in these animals' lives."

Quinn helps walk the dogs in the morning, assist with the photography for the website and help with the play groups.

"You may have been the one person or the one interaction during the day that made them the most happy," Quinn said.

Quinn has two rescue dogs of her own, but volunteering allows her to love all the dogs she wishes she could adopt.

"It's kind of like the whole grandparent situation with the kids," Quinn said. "You get to come play with them and do what you want with them, and you just leave them here and you don't have to take them home."

Anyone wanting to volunteer can go to Young-Williams' website for more information.
