Recipe: Tennessee whiskey glaze

The Tennesseean Hotel shares how to make a Tennessee whiskey glaze.

Tennessee Whiskey Glaze

Makes about 4 cups

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of pineapple juice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 3 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1.5 cup onion, minced
  • 1 cup Tennessee Whiskey
  • 1/2 cup garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions:

  • In a large sauce plan sweat garlic and onion over medium heat until it becomes translucent. Then add all remaining ingredients. Bring mixture to a boil and then reduce down to a simmer and continue to simmer for about 1.5-2 hours or until the mixture has reduced in volume to about half and becomes slightly thickened and syrup. Place in refrigerator to cool down and thicken.
  • Note: as the sauce cools down it will become thicker and thicker
  • Goes great on ribs, burgers, grilled chick, etc.
