Sequoyah High School administrators said a student was found with a BB gun at the school Friday morning.
Monroe County Schools said administrators addressed the situation immediately after it was reported to them.
" At no time were any students in danger. As always, the safety of our students is our number one concern," the school system posted on Facebook.
The school system said it wanted to keep parents informed of the situation to eliminate any rumors that may be floating around about the situation.
On Thursday, Monroe County Schools posted about other rumors that had been circulating about a lockdown at Vonore Elementary School. It said the school had not been locked down at any point and there were no threats of danger.
