Russ on the Road: Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant and Grill

First he was at the Tennessee Theatre, then he was at Dolly Parton's Stampede. Now Russell is getting a delicious look at Sevierville for this week's #russontheroad.

SEVIER COUNTY - #Russontheroad took Russell Biven and Lil' Russ on an adventure to Sevierville to check out one of East Tennessee's most delicious tourist spots: Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant and Grill.

Sprouted from the original farm of John and Anna Stokely, the destination grew into one of America's largest canning companies: The Stokely Brothers Canning Company, which eventually grew to become Stokely Van Camp.

Believe it not: As the company grew, in 1967 they also became the first in the nation to market the sports drink Gatorade.

Applewood can certainly see the fruits of their labor after the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant opened in the mid-1980s on Apple Valley Road, as it's now blooming as a popular family restaurant and tourist attraction.

The first day they opened they had a line out the door, and it just hadn't stopped. They built the Applewood Farmhouse Grill in 1995 to help with the overflow, and now both restaurants are equally loved.
