An experiment by a team of local students is on the way to the International Space Station.

The rocket carrying the project by Greshman Middle School students blasted off Friday afternoon from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The experiment is designed to measure the effects of antibiotics in space.

Friday's launch comes after a failed attempt last year.

Less than three minutes after launch, the unmanned Space-X Falcon burst into flames from a vehicle failure last June.

Several students, teachers, and parents traveled to Florida to watch the launch and saw their hard work go up in flames.

The group was chosen to have their experiment flown to the space station as part of the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program.
