Step up to the podium to your fave song

Knox County Republican Candidate Walk-Up Playlist

At baseball games, the players walk-up to bat while a song of their choice plays in the stadium. It's called their walk-up song.

It's become a popular practice among politicians, too, and was a part of many election celebrations Thursday night.

In Franklin, the Republican nominee for governor, Bill Lee, took the stage to the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers classic "I Won't Back Down."

In Nashville, Democratic nominee Karl Dean celebrated with his family while his walk-up song played: "Draggin' the Line" by Tommy James.

In Knoxville, Republican candidates gathered at the Crowne Plaza to wait for election results.

Knox County GOP Chairman Buddy Burkhardt came up with the idea for each local candidate to have a walk-up song. He even picked some of them himself. He said Vice-Chair Suzanne Dewar did a lot of the leg work to put together the playlist.

The song they picked for Knoxville's next mayor Glenn Jacobs was "Slow Chemical" by Finger Eleven. That was his WWE theme song as Kane.

County Clerk Sherry Witt was assigned "Just the way you are" by Bruno Mars.

And Criminal Court Clerk Mike Hammond's walk-up was "Boot Scootin' Boogie" by Brooks and Dunn.
