(WBIR) An astronaut from the Volunteer State is now in charge at the International Space Station.
Tennessee's own Barry "Butch" Wilmore took command of the ISS Sunday evening after the previous commander and two others left to return to earth.
During the change of commander ceremony, Wilmore said he is humbled by the opportunity and thanked everyone who helps keep the space station going.
He's now part of a three-person crew operating the station until new crew members arrive later this month.
The middle Tennessee native got his master's degree at the University of Tennessee and played football at Tennessee Tech.
