An overnight crash on Interstate 40 killed two young adults and injured another teen.

According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the driver, 18-year-old Jacob D. Davison, fell asleep at the wheel and crashed a little after 1 a.m. near mile marker 315 in Cumberland County.

Davison was from Zionville, North Carolina.

THP determined the vehicle went off the side of the road and hit a guard rail, killing Davison and one of the back seat passengers.

Authorities identified Lauren A. Beuttel, 21, from Johnson City as the passenger killed in the crash.

The other passenger sitting in the backseat, a 16-year-old from Boone, N.C. was also hurt, THP said.
