Great Smoky Mountains National Park — Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials announced temporary, single-lane closures along the Spur and a four-mile section of Newfound Gap Road from Sugarlands Visitor Center to the Chimney Tops Trailhead.
The tree removal work through fire-affected areas will begin on Monday, Dec. 11 and last through Friday, March 15, according to GSMNP officials.
The roadways will remain open, but visitors should expect single-lane closures during daylight hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
No work will be allowed on weekends from noon on Fridays through Sunday evenings, federal holidays or between Dec. 21 and Jan. 6, 2019, according to the park.
