Tree removal work on the Spur in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park has been extended through Friday, March 23.

The work was suspended for several days due to heavy rain as crews need relatively dry conditions to safely remove the trees.

Although the roadway will remain open, there will continue to be single-lane closures.

Travelers should expect delays at the intersection of Huskey Grove Road and Gnatty Branch Road on the northbound Spur and between Pigeon Forge and the Huskey Grove Road intersection on the southbound Spur.

Work is not allowed on weekends from 12 p.m. on Friday through 8 a.m. on Monday.
