TWRA: Ohio man dies after falling from boat at Norris Lake

TWRA says an Ohio man fell between the pontoon boat and the dock as he was stepping off of the boat. Witnesses told TWRA officers Richard Curry fell into the water and did not come back up. Witnesses also say he had removed his life jacket just before stepping off of the boat.

52-year-old, Richard Curry from Jamestown, Ohio died after falling from a boat while at a fuel dock on Norris Lake, according to TWRA.

The event happened just before 8 p.m. TWRA officers report that a bass fishing boat and a pontoon boat were involved in a minor collision inside the "No Wake Zone" at Shanghai Marina. Following the accident the two boats went to the fuel dock at the marina.

TWRA says Curry fell between the pontoon boat and the dock as he was stepping off of the boat. Witnesses told TWRA officers that he fell into the water and did not come back up. Witnesses also say Curry had removed his life jacket just before stepping off of the boat.

Campbell County Rescue Squad members recovered his body just after 8:30 p.m. in about 64 feet of water.

The incident is still under investigation.
