KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Monday was "Double Your Donation Day" for Second Harvest Food Bank, a telethon that helps Second Harvest provide food throughout the year for a variety of programs and ministries in need.
All donations to Second Harvest on this day were matched up to $300,000.
The food bank was hoping to collect enough donations to provide 1.5 million meals to the hungry in East Tennessee. It exceeded its goal, raising more than $684,000 dollars, enough for more than 2 million meals.
Second Harvest said it would like to thank everyone who gave to the effort.
