Nashville stars were grieving Sunday as news spread about the death of country legend Mel Tillis, who was remembered for his gentle humor and kindness.

Blake Shelton hailed the 85-year-old star as "an incredible entertainer. And a funny funny guy."

John Rich, half of the country duo of Big & Rich, shared a photo of Tillis taken a few years ago at Rich's home and saluted him as "one of a kind."

"An authentic gentleman," former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee wrote.

"There will never be another Mel Tillis!" Crystal Gayle tweeted.
