The policies vary by airline, but – generally – they permit eligible customers to make one change to their itineraries without paying change fees that can cost $200 or more per passenger. The policies also typically allow fliers to move their flights without paying a fare difference, though there’s usually a finite travel window to do so. For passengers wishing to move their flights to dates outside beyond those booking windows, most carriers will allow customers to apply the full value of their remaining ticket toward a newly booked one.

To the following cities in Texas: Austin (Aug. 24-Sept. 1), Corpus Christi (Aug. 24-Sept. 1), Harlingen (Aug. 24-Aug. 29), Houston Hobby (Aug. 24-Sept. 4), San Antonio (Aug. 24-Sept. 1)

Details: Southwest never charges a change fee, but it will allow fliers tickets to the above cities on the above dates to move their travel without paying any difference in fare. Travelers may rebook for travel within 14 days of their rescheduled flight. Otherwise, they can apply the value of their ticket toward a newly booked reservation.

Additionally, fliers traveling to and from Houston may change their origin or destination -- without paying any additional charge -- for flights to Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas Love or San Antonio if their original dates of travel are between Aug. 24 and Sept. 4.
