The Sears at Knoxville's West Town Mall has officially closed.

The company announced the closure in October but permanently closed Sunday.

It comes amid the closure of dozens of Sears and Kmart stores across the country.

The Sears at Knoxville's West Town Mall has permanently closed.

In May, Sears Holdings said it would be closing more than 70 additional stores in 2018 as its sales continue to erode, dropping more than 30 percent in the latest quarter from a year ago.

The last Kmart store in the East Tennessee will close in March, according to Sears Holdings Corp.

Since filing for bankruptcy, the company has said it will close more than 260 of its nearly 700 stores.
