Woman killed in serious crash off Loves Creek Road identified

Knoxville Police have identified the victim who died as Julie Fryar, 59 of Knoxville.

A woman died and two others were seriously hurt on Loves Creek Road after a SUV and van collided Monday afternoon.

Tuesday morning, Knoxville Police identified the victim who died as Julie Fryar, 59 of Knoxville. She was the driver of the Ford van.

It happened near Buffet Mill Road around 3:38 p.m. Monday. Loves Creek Road was closed for hours closed between Buffet Mill Road and Parker Drive while investigators conducted interviews and inspected the vehicles involved in the crash..

A LIFESTAR helicopter, the Knoxville Police Department, Knoxville Fire Department and AMR responded. Initially, dispatch said at least one person was hurt and another person was entrapped after the two vehicles collided.

According to KPD, the passenger in the van has been identified as Kenneth Fryar, 62, of Knoxville. The driver of the Toyota SUV was identified as Amy Smith, 42 of Knoxville. On Monday, authorities said both sustained potentially life-threatening injuries. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

KPD said witnesses told them the SUV had crossed the center line of the road, hitting the van head-on.

The investigation is on-going.
