UT economic report shows room for growth in 2019

The report shows the economy is in good shape but job growth has leveled off in the last couple of years.

Tennessee will likely see more economic growth in 2019.

According to a report released Monday by UT's Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research, the economy is in good shape but job growth has leveled off in the last couple of years.

Tennessee's projected growth looks similar to growth across the U.S. and the experts said there's good news ahead.

"As we look forward to 2019, we expect growth to continue. It's gonna be another good year for the state of the national economy. We do expect economic growth to slow a little bit from the very heated pace of 2018, not a bad sign but, GDP growth, non-farm job growth are likely to grow a bit of a slower pace," said Matt Murray with the UT Boyd Center.

The report also showed that international trade has a bigger impact on Tennessee's economy than others states'.
