LENOIR CITY, Tenn. — Veterans and their families got the chance to enjoy a day of cruising, tubing and fishing on the water Saturday.
Boat Rides 4 Vets gives free rides out on Tellico and Fort Loudon Lakes to veterans and their families.
It's the 6th year Wind River Marina and the local VFW have offered this.
This year they saw 35 boats and more than 60 veterans take part.
And as one boat captain said, it's an easy way to give back to veterans who gave so much to their country.
"I saw a spot online about it. how they were looking for volunteers. And I'm on the water all the time fishing as it is. So I figured it was a great way to give back," boat captain David Heine said.
