Austin-East's Foster wins Offensive Player of the Week

Trey Foster of the Roadrunners wins our week 3 offensive player of the week.

The Offensive Player of the Week honor for Week Three goes to Trey Foster of Austin-East (2-1).

This is Foster's first year at the helm for the Roadrunners. The junior dual-threat quarterback led his team to a 36-14 victory over Kingston last week. Foster threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns through the air with an additional rushing touchdown, and 141 yards on the ground

Head coach Jeff Phillips says that what Foster is able to do through the air is impressive for a first-time starter at quarterback, and that the junior is going to be a nightmare for opposing coaches to prepare for moving forward.

Foster says he models his game after last year's starting quarterback, Chris Hunter, who is currently at Army West Point as an outside linebacker. Foster also hopes to be in the position to play on television as a collegiate athlete one day and hopes that football can help his family.

Foster described himself as a confident player that can't stand to lose, and he is glad to be getting the spotlight for his efforts.

"There's no use of working out and doing everything every day if it's not paying off and it's paying off, and I've got mad respect about that," said Foster. "This is big for me because a lot of family went here and a lot of people voted for me so I feel like I got respect."

The Roadrunners next game will be this Friday in a rivalry against Fulton.
