Vol baseball's first set of twins

Luc and Andre Lipcius might be twins, but they're not identical. In some ways, they're opposite.

Andre bats and throws right-handed. Luc is a lefty.

Strangely, that gets flipped around once they step off the field.

"It's weird cause I write righty, I kick righty, I even play tennis righty. I throw a football righty," Luc Lipcius said.

"And then I'm the complete opposite," Andre Lipcius said. "I do everything lefty besides play baseball."

"I think my dad probably saw him throw righty and then was like, I want a lefty," Luc said.

The Lipcius brothers are the first known set of twins to start for Tennessee baseball.

Andre has started all 44 games for the Vols, most of them at first base. He's hitting .283, leading the team with 8 steals and played a key role in Tennessee's first series win over Florida since 2008. He scored the winning run in the Vols extra inning victory in game one of the series and drove in the tying run in the Vols second win in Gainesville.

Luc has earned a regular starting job lately in right field and is hitting .316 over 57 at bats.

The twins are both majoring in nuclear engineering and want to learn more about fusion.

"Fusion is when you take two atoms and you pretty much mash them together and it creates a bunch of energy. We don't really know how to do that yet but we're kind of working on it, it takes a lot of money and a lot of heat," Luc said.
