Dallas Cowboys great Jason Witten is leaving the Cowboys for a drier clime -- Las Vegas and the Raiders
Multiple media reports have the veteran tight end, a former University of Tennessee Volunteer, leaving.
Witten has agreed to a one-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders worth up to $4.75 million, according to ESPN.
This news breaks one day after the Cowboys inked tight end Blake Jarwin to a 3-year, $24.25 million contract extension.
Witten retired in 2018 to be a broadcaster but returned to Dallas last season to play again.
The Elizabethton, Tenn., native played 2000-02 for the Vols. He started as a defensive end but then coach Phillip Fulmer switched him to tight end.
"The Sporting News" and "Sports Illustrated" gave him All-America honors in 2002.
The Cowboys selected him in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He is the Cowboys all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and games played.
Last year Dallas went 8-8 and missed the playoffs.
