HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — The Knoxville Ice Bears will not play during the 2019-2020 hockey season after their league announced that the season would be suspended effective immediately.
The announcement came Thursday evening. The Southern Professional Hockey League said that it would suspend the season due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19 and for the safety of fans, players and arena personnel.
They said that the league and its teams will monitor developments over the weekend and give an update on the season in the near future.
