Former Powell standout basketball player Caitlin Hollifield is the new head coach for the West High School girls basketball team.

Hollifield made the move from CAK, where she had been since 2014. Hollifield led the Lady Warriors to the DII-A state quarterfinals this past season. She previously coached at her alma mater, Powell, for two seasons leading the Lady Panthers to a 40-15 record.

"I am ecstatic to be joining West High School as the new head Girls Basketball Coach," Hollifield said. "Ms. Jessie has created a buzz around West HS right now and I am honored to have the opportunity to work for her coaching young ladies in a game that means so much to me."

Coach Hollifield met with her team this morning and is excited to get going.

As a player, she started 14 games as a freshman at Alabama, then transferred to Western Carolina in 2009 after missing her sophomore season due to injury. In high school, Hollifield led Powell to three state tournament appearances and was named All-State in her junior and senior seasons.
