KNOXVILLE, Tennessee — The SEC softball coaches picked Tennessee to finish third in the conference's preseason poll, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Last year, the Lady Vols were picked to finish second and entered the SEC Tournament as the No. 4 seed.
An important note, coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.
The Lady Vols finished the year with a 48-14 record last season, going to its 15th consecutive NCAA Regional and its 10th overall Super Regional before falling to Georgia in the three-game series.
Tennessee brings back six of its top 10 hitters from 2018.
The season begins for the Lady Vols on February 8 at the Kickin' Chicken Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with games against UIC, Coastal Carolina, Boston University and Rider. Tennessee will play 11 road games before opening Sherri Parker Lee Stadium with the Tennessee Classic on February 22 against Kansas, Virginia, Bradley, Louisville and Tennessee State.
