A big road lead turned into a thriller for Tennessee, with the Vols coming out on the wrong end of a conference comeback. No. 13 Auburn beat Tennessee 73-66.
Tennessee led by as many as 17 points with 14:31 left in the second half, before Auburn went on an 18-0 run to take the lead. Jalen Johnson stopped the bleeding with a mid-range jumper to give the Vols its first bucket in more than seven minutes. Tennessee was outscored 36-12 after taking the 17-point lead.
The Tigers capitalized off of Tennessee mistakes. Auburn scored 27 points off of 24 Vol turnovers.
Senior guard Jordan Bowden set a new career-high with 28 points against the Tigers, adding 4 rebounds and 6 assists.
Three Vols, Santiago Vescovi, Yves Pons and Davonte Gaines, were in foul trouble for much of the second half. Vescovi picked up his fourth foul with 14:27 left in the game and as a result, sat for much of the Auburn run.
Tennessee is now 15-12, 7-7 in SEC play.
