New app for Knox County neighborhoods allows people to report issues in real-time

SeeClickFix allows people to report non-emergency neighborhood issues to their local governments in real-time. It officially launches on Monday.

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — If you live in Knox County, a new app is putting more power at your fingertips to make a positive difference in your neighborhood.

SeeClickFix allows people to report non-emergency neighborhood issues to their local governments in real-time. It officially launches on Monday.

People can still sign up for the app ahead of time and post issues that will be visible to neighbors.

If a person spots something like a pothole that needs to be fixed, a ditch that needs to be cleaned out or a sidewalk that needs repairs — getting them fixed just got easier.

This week, a 10News viewer contacted us about concerns over a power pole that's nearly broken in half near his driveway. He also called agencies multiple times to have it fixed.

The pole was fixed after a few days, but the new app could have made it a one-step process.

Before the app, getting something fixed would take a call into the county.

Now people in Knox County can open the app on their smartphones or computers, put in an address that issue is near, submit a photo, video and description of what needs to be fixed and then the county will receive the requests through one central location. Then, they will disperse the issues to the right office for repairs.

Officials said it greatly helps with communication between government offices.

People can also see other requests submitted by neighbors to know if someone has already reported the issue. You should also get a notification when the work is done.

Mayor Glenn Jacobs said engaging people in the "process from start to finish is one of the best ways to ensure the county can complete work well and efficiently."
