JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Drivers planning to travel through Jefferson County over the weekend may want to avoid the interstate because bridge repairs are scheduled.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation will start repairing the bridge over Brethren Church Road on I-40 East at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. Those repairs will only leave one lane of the interstate open in Jefferson County over the weekend.
The off-ramp to Exit 424 will not be affected.
All work should be complete by 6 a.m. on Monday, March 2, according to a press release from TDOT.
Workers will also be on the road over the weekend, so TDOT is encouraging drivers to be extra cautious if they drive through the area.
This schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions.
