'Dip' along northbound I-75 prompts roadwork, closes highway lane

Traffic has been reduced to one lane while the work continues. TDOT Region 1 spokesman Mark Nagi said there've been sinkholes in the past on the shoulder.

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee — A TDOT contracting crew is repairing a "dip" along northbound Interstate 75 just north of the Emory Road exit.

Traffic has been reduced to one lane while the work continues.

TDOT Region 1 spokesman Mark Nagi said there've been sinkholes in the past on the shoulder.

"Our GeoTechnical engineers were concerned about a dip having an effect on the integrity of the roadway," Nagi told 10News in an email. "So we have the contractor working five days a week from basically sunup to sundown and are hopeful that all work is done in the next two weeks."

Motorists should be aware the work will affect northbound traffic in the coming days.
