One lane of I-75 North reopens in Campbell County

Good news for travelers heading north!

TDOT reopened one lane of I-75 northbound to traffic on Thursday morning.

It's been closed since February 26, when the slope just north of exit 141, the Oneida/Huntsville exit in Campbell County, started collapsing, sending rocks and debris onto both sides of the interstate.

TDOT initially closed both sides of the interstate, sending travelers on long detours in both directions.

They eventually reopened the southbound lanes on March 9, then allowed local traffic heading north to exit 141 to go beyond the detour closure at exit 134.

TDOT reopened the lane around 9:45 a.m. Thursday.

Workers have been hauling material from the site, repaving and setting up concrete barriers to prepare for the return of traffic.

Drivers should use caution in the area once traffic is once allowed to pass the site of the rock slide, because workers will still be in the area.

The entire project is expected to be finished by April 15, when all lanes should be reopened.
