Sevierville Police: Woman, 68, killed in crash involving cement truck

According to SPD, a cement truck and Honda sedan collided -- killing the driver of the Honda.

One person was killed and two others were hurt in a crash involving a cement truck in Sevierville.

Bob Stahlke with the City of Sevierville said police are investigating a crash that happened on Veterans Boulevard just north of the intersection of Blanton Drive around 1 p.m. Thursday.

According to Stahlke, a cement truck and Honda sedan collided -- killing the driver of the Honda.

It appears that a 2016 Kenworth cement truck owned by Blalock and Sons, Inc. was traveling north on Veterans Boulevard and a 2008 Honda Civic was traveling west on Blanton Drive, attempting to turn south onto Veterans Boulevard, according to SPD Officer Shawn Crawford. The two vehicles collided in the intersection; both ended up in the southbound lanes of Veterans Boulevard just north of the intersection. The cement truck came to rest on its side, next to the Civic.

The driver has been identified as Kateri Goldwater, 68, of Pigeon Forge. A passenger in the Civic, 28-year-old Barry Goldwater of Pigeon Forge, was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center via Lifestar air ambulance. His condition is not known, Sevierville Police said.

The southbound lanes of Veterans Boulevard, from Dolly Parton Parkway to Blanton Drive, were closed until approximately 2:45 p.m. Thursday.

SPD accident reconstructionists are continuing to investigate the crash.

Police have a reconstruction team working to figure out the details of the crash.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is also investigating since it was a serious crash involving a commercial vehicle.
