TDOT: Maryville Pike closed 'indefinitely' after railroad bridge damaged at Alberta Dr.

TDOT said that a commercial vehicle hit the railroad overpass, damaging it.

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Transportation said a road in southern Knox County would be closed indefinitely after a railroad overpass was damaged by a commercial vehicle.

A spokesperson for the department, Mark Nagi, said the crash happened at around 12:30 p.m. on Friday. He then said inspectors went to examine the railroad bridge and traffic was diverted to alternate routes while they evaluated it.

At around 3:30 p.m., Nagi said that SR 33, otherwise named Maryville Pike, would be closed "indefinitely" due to damage to the railroad bridge.

Additional information about the road closure was not immediately available. This story will be updated when more information is available.
