THP: Five injured and charges pending after crash on Hwy. 411, near Vonore Elementary School

Officials asked drivers to avoid the area as they investigated the crash.

VONORE, Tenn. — UPDATE(11:30 p.m.): The Tennessee Highway Patrol said that five people were injured after a crash on Highway 411 Tuesday.

Officials said that a 2012 Volkswagen Passat was driving north on the highway at "high rates of speed." A  2013 Toyota Camry tried to turn left into a business when the Passat crashed into it, officials said.

They said that it happened at 2:56 p.m. near Mountain View Drive.

Troy Hade, 30, from Maryville, was injured. He was driving the Passat and officials said that charges were pending for him. William Hodge, 33, and Ernest Myers III, 39, were in the car with him and were both injured, officials said.

Evelyn Olivero, 74, from Greenback, was in the Camry and was also injured, officials said. Her passenger, Louis Oliverio, 76, was also injured.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said that they are investigating a crash on U.S. Highway 411, near Mountain View Drive. The intersection is nearby the Vonore Elementary School.

Officials asked drivers to avoid the area while they worked on the scene. A picture of the crash was posted to THP's Twitter account Tuesday evening.

Information about the cause of the crash or any possible injuries was not immediately available. This story will be updated when more information is available.
