KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The driver who crashed early Christmas Eve into a new Sutherland Avenue building reported having a medical issue, according to the Knoxville Police Department.
The 56-year-old man plowed into the Dominion Development Group building near Forest Park Drive about 4:48 a.m. Tuesday. It was under construction for more than a year.
The man was driving west on Sutherland when "he had a medical episode," according to KPD spokesman Scott Erland.
He went off the road, hit the sign at 3820 Sutherland and crashed into Dominion Development Group.
Erland said he was taken to University of Tennessee Medical Center with injuries "that are not believed to be serious in nature."
He was ticketed for driving on a suspended license.
