TENNESSEE, USA — It's the first snow of 2021 for many East Tennesseans!

Parts of East Tennessee started seeing rain transition to big snowflakes early Friday morning, especially in the higher elevations.

Schools began closing Thursday evening and TDOT crews began prepping the roads in preparation for a snow day.

From North Knoxville to Morristown and the Smokies, we are tracking the latest snow day updates and road conditions.

As of 7 a.m. Friday, TDOT said there are not any travel impacts in Knox Co. and surrounding counties, due to favorable temperatures.

There are some areas that have snow covered, especially in upper East TN, TDOT said crews will continue to treat and monitor routes as needed.
