KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Time to think about heat safety with this Summer-like heat...

**Drink plenty of water, wear light-colored and lightweight clothing and apply sunscreen if you are going to be outside.

**Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest time of the day.

**And NEVER leave kids or pets in the car!!

Be safe in the heat this week!

**Make sure your pets have access to shade and clean drinking water and don't walk them on hot pavement! A good "rule of thumb" is if the pavement is too hot to keep the back of your hand on for more than few seconds, it is too hot for your pets.

Keep your pets safe in the heat!

Tonight: Fair skies with lows in the upper 60s. Winds will be light.

Memorial Day (Monday): Continued hot and humid with near-record highs in the lower 90s and heat index values in the middle 90s. There is a chance for a few showers and storms, mainly north of I-40 and east of I-75 during the afternoon so keep an eye to the sky and if thunder roars, head indoors! Lows will be in the upper 60s Monday night.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny with highs in the lower 90s. Lows will be in the upper 60s Tuesday night.

Wednesday: Partly sunny and while a stray shower or storm is not out of the question, most locations will stay dry. Highs will top out in the lower 90s. Lows will be in the upper 60s Wednesday night.

Thursday: A weakening front will be moving into the region but likely won't arrive until later in the evening. That means much of the day should be mostly dry and we'll warm into the upper 80s. Scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder may move late in the evening. Lows will be in the middle 60s Thursday night.

Friday: Partly cloudy with scattered showers and storms possible. Highs will be in the middle 80s. Lows will be in the middle 60s Friday night.

Stay cool and keep hydrated!!!
