Record levels of rainfall hit East Tennessee last week

4"-8" of rain has fallen in just one week across all of East Tennessee, leading to destructive flash flooding.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — We knew at the beginning of the week that impressive rainfall could be possible. Well, as we end the week, that is exactly what happened! It became destructive and deadly.  And now the stats are coming in and it really puts things into perspective.

The bulls eye was from Knox to Roane and Loudon counties where some of the worst of the flooding occurred.

This really puts things into perspective!  The 10th longest stretch since 1901!

I remember looking at these numbers at the beginning of the week, thinking, "No way we will hit that 1873 record of 12.52"  Well, we have surpassed that.
