Thursday, July 19
The world’s a stage, or at least Market Square is, during Tennessee Stage Company’s Shakespeare on the Square. From mid-July to mid-August you can see two of William Shakespeare’s plays performed Thursday through Sunday nights at 7 pm in Downtown Knoxville. It doesn’t cost anything to watch, but donations are welcome. This year the group is performing Cymbeline and Henry IV, Part One.
Actors and actresses at Knoxville Children’s Theatre are performing Disney’s Aladdin Jr. this weekend. Tickets are $10 to $12.
Bring your pooch for a bath at the Royal Bark Social Club this Thursday through Sunday for a charity dog wash to benefit the Campbell County TN Animal Center. The doggie daycare is located on Randolph Street in Knoxville.
Every Thursday Night, Schulz Brau Brewing Company features a different movie. This Thursday, the feature is “Super Troopers 2” at 9 pm. Enjoy free popcorn to go along with your beer and entertainment.
Enjoy the last weekend of the Anderson County Fair in Clinton. Ride the rides, listen to live music, and eat funnel cake until your heart’s content. Tickets are $5.
Friday, July 20
The Tennessee Theatre is playing some of the classics during its Summer Movie Magic series. On Friday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m., the theatre will play ‘The Treasure of Sierra Madre.’ Tickets range from $7-$9.
Spend an evening browsing stores and vendors in Downtown Clinton on Friday for Market Night. The event will take place on Market Street from 5 pm to 8 pm.
Visit the Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair at the Gatlinburg Convention Center to see dozens of artisans demonstrate their special talents. The fair is open July 13 through July 22. Doors open at 10 am each day.
Explore the twilight world of dogs at Ijams Nature Center’s “Nature at Night: the Dog ‘ nights’ of summer” event on Friday at 8:30 pm. Participants will learn about wild and domestic dogs that love the time of day when the sun is setting. The fee for the program is $8.
Are you a Volkswagen fan? The Knox Volks Motor Club’s Volkswagen car show is Friday and Saturday at the Talley Ho Inn in Townsend.
Lenoir City Park is showing Despicable Me 3 on Friday during the Movies in the Park Series. The show begins when the sun goes down, and it’s free for the whole family.
You never know what you’ll find at the Knoxville Flea Market. There will be 300 booths from around the region set up at the Knoxville Expo Center Friday from 3 pm to 7 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm, and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is free.
The Halls Branch library is hosting a used book sale on Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm to raise money for improvements at the branch and Friends of the Knox County Public Library.
The Wordplayers are performing the classic love story, Jane Eyre, at the Bijou Theater on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Tickets range from $18 to $24.
The Tennessee Sheiks are performing on Friday for Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center’s Summer Concert Series. The concert begins at 7 pm and costs $10 per person.
Saturday, July 21
ORNL Federal Credit Union is hosting a series of free summer concerts called the Summer Sessions. This week’s show is on Saturday at 6 pm at Oak Ridge’s Bissell Park. Don’t forget to bring a lawn chair or picnic blanket.
If you have children with sensory or attention issues, The Blount County Public Library is showing Mulan on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in a low light, low-stress setting. Kids can play with LEGOs while they watch the movie.
Race through Pigeon Forge while getting blasted with color at the Titanic Museum’s color run on Saturday at 7:30 am. Each pre-registered participant receives a t-shirt, 2 bags of color, and a fun bag.
You’re never too young to learn about nature. Take your kids to Ijams Nature Center’s Nature Nuggets on Saturday at 10 am. This month’s event is all about animal clues like paw prints and scents. The fee is $4.
Young Williams Animal Center is bringing their furry adoptable pets to Ijams Nature Center on Saturday from noon to 4 pm.
The Hard Knox Roller Girls roller derby team is competing on Saturday at the Knoxville Convention center at 5 pm and 7 pm. Tickets range from $10 to $15.
Peppa Pig is visiting Zoo Knoxville to give out plenty of hugs on Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. The meet and greet is included with a general admission ticket.
The woman behind the hilarious “I ain’t doing it” Snapchat videos is performing at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium on Saturday at 7 pm. Tickets to see Heather Land start at $33.
Been Haggard is performing at Second Harvest’s “Music Feeds” concert series. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at the amphitheater in World’s Fair Park, and ticket proceeds go to the food bank.
Observe the stars above during a night of public stargazing on Saturday at the Tamke-Allan Observatory in Harriman, TN. Gates open at 7 p.m. The observatory hosts stargazing nights every first and third Saturday of the month.
Put on your game face for Saturday’s adult field day from 4 pm to 7 pm at World’s Fair Park. It’s like recess, but with beer. There will be live music, food trucks, and competitions.
TeeMar Stables is hosting a family fun day on Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm to benefit the East Tennessee Miniature Horse and Donkey Rescue. There will be pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, and a silent auction.
Bring the whole family to UT's McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture for a free family fun day from 1 pm to 4 pm. There will be tours, crafts, games, and more. The museum is located at 1327 Circle Park Drive.
The Burlington Branch Library is showing Black Panther at 2 pm for their Super Saturdays Cinemas series. Popcorn and drinks are provided at the free event.
National WIFFLE is hosting its 2nd national tournament on Friday and Saturday in Harriman. Teams from New Jersey to Florida will be competing in the two-day tournament at Dracks Track Ballfield next to the police department.
Sunday, July 22
Enjoy an evening of murder and mayhem on-board the Three Rivers Rambler. Knox Heritage is hosting “Murder on the Knoxville Express.” According to Knox Heritage’s website, tickets to the summer supper is sold out.
