Pusher the movie will show the impact of opioid addiction in Appalachia

The film's writer and star, who is from East Tennessee, says she hopes the story will inspire others to fight for their community and end the cycle of addiction.

An East Tennessee filmmaker is using her creativity and talent to help bring about a dialogue about opioid adduction.

Andi Morrow, who is from Huntsville, Tenn., wrote the short independent film called Pusher, about a young woman who sells drugs in her small Appalachian town, and how she comes to grips not only with the life she's chosen, but how it has impacted her community.

She says she hopes the story will inspire others to fight for their community and end the cycle of addiction.

Morrow will also direct and star in the film, which will be shot in July in Morgan and Scott counties.

They are currently raising money to help fund the production. You can find out how you can help here. A portion of the proceeds raised will go towards organizations already helping out in our Appalachian communities.
