We are revisiting some of our most memorable moments from a decade of reporting our signature Service & Sacrifice series. Throughout 2018 we plan to showcase highlights from almost 300 stories in our archive.
These stories include profiles of individual veterans, interviews focused on benefits available to veterans and their families, as well as documentary-style projects following veterans on journeys to the war memorials in Washington D.C., the D-Day beaches in France and the battlefields of Vietnam.
This week we take a look back at the genesis of the one-of-a-kind memorial in downtown Knoxville that helped inspire the start of our series in 2008.
