Jonathan Crompton threw for a career high 331 yards and tied his career best with five touchdown tosses as the Vols beat Memphis 56-28 on Homecoming for the Volunteers.

Crompton did most of his damage in the first half when the Vols raced to a 35-0 lead.  It was 42-7 at halftime and Coach Lane Kiffin substituted liberally in the second half.

It is Tennessee's second consecutive win this year and their sixth straight win over Memphis.  The Vols are now 5-4 and a win away from being bowl eligible.

Tennessee is 21-1 all-time against Memphis and has won all 12 meetings in Knoxville.
