Authorities are searching for a man who took off after a traffic stop and sped the wrong way on Interstate 40.

Jefferson County dispatchers said deputies pulled him over on I-40 near Strawberry Plains around 8:15 p.m. Monday. They spoke to him for about 15 minutes before he fled.

Deputies pursued him until speeds became dangerous, but continued to track the green Tahoe.

At one point, he was driving east in the westbound lanes toward Sevier County before they lost track of him.

Dispatchers said they know who the suspect is, and he'll face charges of felony fleeing and criminal impersonation when they track him down.
