Vol fans will experience history during Saturday's football game against Vanderbilt.

For the first time ever, the University of Tennessee will fly the Prisoner of War/Missing in Action flag at a football game.

Marty Everett, a  U.S. Air Force veteran, works as an usher at Neyland Stadium.

During a recent game, the idea of flying a POW/MIA flag inside the stadium crossed his mind.

The color guard advisor for UT's ROTC program took Everett's idea to the athletic department.

UT chose to fly the flag during the Vanderbilt game, since the Pride of the Southland Band is scheduled to perform their patriotic tribute during half-time.

"It constantly reminds you that they're still out there.  Still Missing.  Somebody might see that someday and get inspired and do some real work and get some of these guys back home," said Everett.

UT's athletic department said the flag is only scheduled to fly during the Vanderbilt game.

Everett and the ROTC program hope to get permission to fly the flag at every game.
