A North Carolina man has been charged in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park's first elk poaching case.
Investigators said 35-year-old Bruce Wayne Cromer shot a bull elk on Nov. 13 within park borders in Haywood County.
If convicted, he could be fined up to $500 or spend up to six months behind bars. He would also have to pay all court costs and forfeit his gun and vehicle.
