A Knoxville man has been arrested on accusations he hit a woman with his car, got out to steal her purse, then drove away, leaving her unconscious.
Police say Jarvis Danielle Hodge, 23, hit 26-year-old Candi Sharell Welcome on April 15 on Magnolia Avenue near Cherry Street.
Police say he then got out of his Chevrolet Caprice, took her purse as she lay on the ground unconscious, and drove away.
Hodge now stands charged with especially aggravated robbery and is likely to face other charges as the investigation continues.
At last check, Welcome was in critical condition at UT Medical Center.
A witness came forward with information on Friday, leading police to locate Hodge at a business. His vehicle was located a short time later.
Hodge is held on $25,000 bond in the Knox County Detention Facility.
