Fourteen apply for state attorney general position

The governor's lawyer, an anti-obscenity advocate and the co-founder of Nashville's first all-female law firm are among at least 14 applicants to become Tennessee's next attorney general.

Today was the last day for applications to fill the position being vacated by current Attorney General Paul Summers, who is not seeking reappointment when his first eight-year term ends next month.

The applicants include:

-- Bob Cooper, Governor Bredesen's attorney. -- Circuit Judge Don R. Ash of Murfreesboro. -- Margaret L. Behm, co-founder of Nashville's first all female law firm. -- Former federal prosecutor Larry Parrish, who in the 1970s prosecuted the stars and producers of the adult film "Deep Throat" in Memphis. -- Herman Morris, a Memphis lawyer. -- Two current employees of the Attorneys General's office, Larry Teague and Andy Bennett, are seeking to fill the seat of their departing boss.

The other applicants are Gino Bulso Junior of Nashville, Clayton Thomas Davenport Junior of Bristol, Alex Fardon of Nashville, Joseph E. Feibelman of Memphis, Shelby R. Grubbs of Chattanooga, Bill Killian of Jasper and Pamela L. Reeves of Knoxville.
