KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — UPDATE: Click here to see the finished paintings and place a bid

Drop by to see 16 artists race the clock Friday night to create large-scale paintings while another artist transforms a Mini Cooper with paint. They have three hours to complete their creations.

Art Slam is Friday, September 6, from 5:30 to 8:30 in Strong Alley between Gay Street and Market Square.

Spectators and people at home can bid on their favorite canvases via an online auction. Auction proceeds will benefit the Dogwood Art Art in Public Places Mural Program.

The Art in Public Places Mural Program will identify and develop other mural locations in the city, encourage new artists to add mural art to their repertoire, and further enhance the vibrant urban space that artists and property owners have created in Strong Alley.

Art Slam is hosted by Dogwood Arts and sponsored by the Downtown Knoxville Alliance.
