Here's how to stay healthy and enjoy life instead of staying at home during the pandemic

If you're not feeling sick, you can still safely go outside.

We know there are places and events people can't go to anymore, thanks to concerns surrounding COVID-19.

The Knoxville St. Patrick's Day Parade, Big Ears Music Festival and all SEC basketball games are canceled. Those are just the things that attract really big crowds.

Just because the big events are canceled doesn't mean you have to just sit in your house bored if you're feeling healthy.

It's really all about just keeping your germs to yourself.

Staying six feet away from other people is really the best precaution and that's not too hard to do.

Here are some suggestions of things you can do that don't require being super close to strangers:

  • Golf course or putting range
  • Take a drive through Cades Cove or the Foothills Parkway
  • Hike in the Smokies
  • Walk, run or bike on a greenway
  • Rent books from the library
  • Read at a quiet coffee shop

Keep going out in public if you feel healthy, but stay mindful of touching surfaces that many others come in contact with.

Bring some hand sanitizer with you and wash your hands frequently.
