Knox County man charged with killing his father

The victim worked for the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a domestic homicide that happened Saturday night.

Officers responded to 206 Gayview Drive at 10:38 p.m. after receiving calls of someone fighting in an adjacent apartment.

When officers arrived, 24-year-old Joshua Dozier slammed the door shut. Officers said they saw the victim, Douglas Dozier, lying on the floor inside the home through a window. When officers went inside, they found the suspect armed with a gun.

According to a preliminary investigation, Joshua Dozier was angry with his father and went to his father's home to confront him. Police said the suspect killed his father during the fight, and the father died as a result of strangulation.

The suspect has been charged with one count of First Degree Murder. His bond is set at $1 million dollars.

The victim, Douglas Dozier, worked for the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
